The match started with a down pour and it took a while for either team to get going, unfortunately it was Partick Thistle who got off the mark first. As the ball was fired across the six yard line Mark Roberts was left with a gaping goal and an easy scoring opportunity. 1 - 0 to Thistle and Roberts once again bates the Airdrie United support.

As we are not allowed to discuss refereeing displays on the official site, I am just going to say that Sandy should have taken the players of the park and asked for a new referee to control the game.

Airdrie United fought back against all the odds and it was late in the first half that Stewart Taylor scored a cracking equaliser. As the first half ended Kevin MacDonald had a long shot well saved by Arthur in the Thistle goal. Stephen McDougall went on a mazy run from the right wing and his shot was tipped around the post by the Thistle keeper. On thirty six minutes as Brian McPhee shielded the ball, Stewart Taylor thumped the ball in to the back of the net for his third goal of the season and the equaliser.

Airdrie United were on top against twelve man Thistle and the end of the first half came just at the wrong time for us.

Prunty with a near miss towards the end of the game.

I'm not sure what happened during the interval, but the Airdrie United team that ended the first half never re-appeared.

Partick Thistle went on the rampage and pinned us back for the first twenty minutes of the half. After only seven minutes of the half Thistle quickly counter attacked and caught the Airdrie United defence totally unprepared. A charge down the near side and a square ball across the box left Strachan to simply fire the ball in to the back of the net.
The rest of the match was going to be dominated referee Timulty.
Airdrie United huffed and puffed but every thirty seconds the game was stopped and there was no real fluidity to the match it became obvious only divine intervention was going to help us today.
