Airdrie United Face Norwich City in pre-season friendly PDF Print E-mail

Despite comments made in the Advertiser today, the club are delighted to announce a pre season friendly against Norwich at Excelsior Stadium on Saturday 18th July at 3 pm. Jim Ballantyne confirmed ‘It is important that we get the best preparation possible for the season ahead and a game against Norwich really fits that bill. We start the season with a tough game against Thistle therefore to play a team such as Norwich the week before will be a great test’.

In the same article, there are a number of references to training facilities which appear to be a little misleading. Jim explained ‘the big problem at the Stadium is that there are no local surfaces that are suitable for a professional football team therefore we are having to look further afield. There is not exactly a glut of great surfaces available and Little Kerse is one on a shortlist currently being reviewed. There is no point in being based and changing at the Stadium to then travel a distance to a training park which already has all the facilities on site.’
