The Club can confirm that the following players have now signed for Season 2011/2012.

Derek Holmes, Sean Lynch, Graeme Owens and Ally Woodburn.

Derek Holmes was with Queen of the South last year and has been training with the Club during pre-season. Jimmy Boyle stated” I have always  been an admirer of Derek and he gives us options which we did not have last year. We have some excellent young players up front this season but I felt we needed a presence and some experience  to assist them and Derek will certainly bring that”. 

Sean Lynch was previously with St. Mirren and will also bring a bit of experience and stability to the middle of the park. Jimmy explained “Last year we ended up a little short of cover when Rhys had to drop back and I feel it is important that we have strength in the middle of the park throughout the season”.  

With the midfield in mind, Jimmy was delighted to convince Graeme Owens to return. He said “ Anybody who saw Graeme towards the end of last season will appreciate what he will bring to Airdrie. There was interest elsewhere but we felt it important to try to secure his services before anything else developed and fortunately we were successful.” 

“Ally was with Ayr last season but did not get much of a chance as Ayr pushed on towards the run-in but I feel that he is the right sort of player to have around and hopefully will develop alongside our young squad.  

Overall, we are in a much stronger place now than we were at this point last year. Our young players have a season of first time football behind them and we have added a bit of experience in key areas and particularly through the backbone of the team” 

This could be a very interesting season!
